Who's going to remove junk?

THE rules surrounding the disposal of waste at Macclesfield Borough Council tips become increasingly complex.

I can understand large commercial vehicles needing special arrangements when the tip is running out of capacity but MBC appears to have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. Quite apart from the people of Wilmslow having no tip whatsoever, MBC continues to restrict the type of waste they are willing to handle.

I understand it no longer undertakes the collection of large items like fridges leaving residents to dispose of them as best they can.

No surprise then that I saw this pile of household junk dumped on a quiet country lane near the Fool’s Nook. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence could work out the consequences of withdrawing this service.

Obviously people should not discard their rubbish in this manner but with the cost of private disposal around £80 for a fridge many will not be able to resist the temptation.

I have but one question: who is going to remove all the junk illegally dumped on public roads?
