Deaf school gift from Mr & Mrs

CORONATION Street star William Roache, better known as Ken Barlow, has given an unexpected cash boost to a local charity.
The Wilmslow-based actor and his wife, Sara, donated £20,000 to the Royal School for the Deaf in Cheadle Hulme after winning it on ITV’s All-Star Mr and Mrs.
The show challenges contestants to answer a series of questions about their partner to test how well the couples truly know each other.
The pair competed against boxer Joe Calzaghe and his girlfriend as well as Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik and his partner, Cheekygirl Gabriela Irmia.
Bill said: "The staff at the school are incredible and the work they do vastly improves the quality of life of children and young people with these conditions by helping them to communicate. We were delighted to be able to support the charity in this way. We had a great time on Mr and Mrs even if some of the questions were slightly challenging."
David Hipkins, chairman of the charity, said: "We are delighted that they nominated us to benefit from their winnings. Everyone is delighted at this unexpected windfall, which is going to help us fund the new wing of the college. We are very grateful to Bill and Sara for their support, this means a lot to everyone at the charity."
