TWO of the stars of last season’s highly successful Macc Town youth squad have signed their first professional contracts.
Striker Kristian Dennis and midfielder Chris Hirst put their names to 12-month deals and will stake their claims for starting places during the pre-season programme that begins with a fixture at Congleton Town tonight (Wed).
The pair graduated from Macclesfield’s well-respected academy this summer after a strong showing in the Puma Youth Alliance League and a run to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.
Dennis and Hirst join Shaun Brisley, Christian Millar, James Jennings, Izak Reid, Jordan Hadfield, Matthew Flynn and Nick Blackman as current squad members whose tutorship under John Askey and Mick Holgate has culminated in a professional deal.
Askey said: "It is going to be a challenge for them but that is what thay have been working towards and if they approach the season in the same way they have acquitted themselves over the last two years, then they will do well."
