Styal take early season silverware

STYAL won their first trophy of the season, beating Curzon Ashton Reserves 2-1 in the Cheshire League Memorial Cup.
Barnes and Matthews hit the goals within the first five minutes on Thursday, but Styal needed goalkeeper Harrison to put in a man-of-the-match display to protect the lead.
Styal followed their win with a thrilling draw against Malpas in the Cheshire Cup.
The teams couldn’t be separated after extra time and the encounter ended 5-5.
Styal’s reserve team had an emphatic 6-3 win at Daten, despite several injuries and absentees.
Three weeks ago Daten won 3-1 at Styal and took a 2-0 lead by the half-hour.
Gregory pulled one back and Vince levelled before the break.
Vince put Styal ahead after the break but Daten replied soon after.
Barnes put Styal back in the lead on the hour mark and Morony and Buckley rounded things off.
