Hockey seconds lead the way

1/10/2008

In the first week of league fixtures it was Alderley Edge men’s seconds that had the club’s best result of the week.

After weathering an early storm and falling a goal behind, Alderley showed great resilience and fought back well to defeat Brooklands.

Ollie Jones capped a fine performance with a goal, Adam Wildig continued his fine scoring form with another brace and they were joined on the scoresheet by Chris Hardy in a fine 4-2 win.

The first team were not so fortunate, losing at home to Brooklands.

Out-played throughout, Alderley couldn’t get into their stride and only goalkeeper James Riley came out of the game with any real credit, after producing a string of fine saves.

The other teams all played sides from Bramhall and it was honours even with the thirds losing 2-1, the fourths being held 0-0 and the fifth team winning 3-0.
