Edge’s triple crown

ALDERLEY Cricket Club’s Under-11s have finished an outstanding season od success by winning the Cheshire County League.
The all-conquering youngsters also claimed the South Manchester Junior Cricket League title and the North Cheshire Junior Cricket League Cup.
The team has a huge squad with nearly 70 boys coming to training sessions during the summer term.
Several of the boys play for Cheshire at county level, but there is strength in depth as, when the boys were playing for the county, the club side stuck to their winning ways.
In fact, the team only lost two games throughout the whole season.
Team managers Paul Scurrah, Neil Wolstenholme, Mike Hook and Andrew Charlton acknowledge that they have some very talented cricketers in their team and cite the fact that, as well as having lots of enthusiasm and energy for the game, the boys genuinely love playing cricket.
While there have been some excellent batting and bowling performances, the team have fielded extremely well, which was often a crucial factor in games.
Neil added: "The parents have also played a vital role in ferrying the boys about, supporting the team, often in cold conditions, and in buying the large amounts of equipment that young cricketers just can’t do without these days."
